Lemnos Philema 2025
7th Gastronomy & Wine Festival of Lemnos
July 10-12 2024
7th Festival, 9 years of Lemnos Philema!
This year, the Lemnos Gastronomy and Wine Festival, Lemnos Philema, lasted three days, with rich activities that showcased the gastronomy, wine, and culture of Lemnos. The festival brought the public closer to producers, winemakers, and the people who promote the island’s culture.
This year’s theme was Sustainable Tourism in Relation to Gastronomy, and guest chefs Dina Nikolaou and Sotiris Evangelou spoke about its importance for Lemnos on the third day of the festival, held at the Myrina high school on Saturday, July 12. Producers and winemakers were present with their products, which the public had the chance to taste. Naturally, the chefs used these products to prepare dishes for the audience. Sotiris Evangelou honored Lemnos by making the traditional tyropitoudi with Lemnos kalathaki cheese, while Dina Nikolaou prepared both savory and sweet cakes, incorporating various local products such as flour, kalathaki cheese, tahini, and honey.
That same day, the 3rd Lemnos Philema Awards took place, which this year honored two women who have contributed to showcasing Lemnos’ gastronomic wealth: Despina Pantelia and Anthea Kotsi, the founders of Lemnos Philema.
The first day of the festival, Thursday, July 10, began with a new activity—a wine tasting of Lemnian wines, led by an important figure in the wine world, Eva Markaki DipWSET. The venue of Varos Village filled with wine enthusiasts who had the opportunity to get to know wines from the wineries Garalis, Union – Limnos Wines, and Limnos Organic Wines.
The second day of the festival, Friday, July 11, was dedicated to the cultural associations of Lemnos and took place in Nea Koutali. The cultural associations of Lemnos, which keep traditions alive, joined forces for a day devoted to Lemnian gastronomy, presenting dishes from their villages. Chefs Dina Nikolaou and Sotiris Evangelou were there, introduced each association, and held discussions with them so that the public could learn more about their activities. The evening closed with a dance performance by the Nea Koutali Cultural Association Nostos.
During the festival week, the restaurants To Kafeneio tou Merakli, Stis Michalitsas, and Taverna Kalouditsa also offered the Lemnos Philema Menu, featuring dishes from Lemnos made with products from the producers of the Lemnos Gastronomy and Wine Association.
The festival is the flagship event of the Lemnos Gastronomy and Wine Association, which consists of member producers, winemakers, and restaurants, and aims to collaborate with local bodies and other associations for the good of Lemnos.
